Marina Del Rey (Los Angeles, CA)
IAW Foundation is coming to Marina Del Rey (Los Angeles) for an informative event during a historic moment in women’s rights history. We are inviting a few hundred attendees to join us from around the country to not only participate but unite in solidarity with the women in Iran fighting for their basic human rights. Shally Zomorodi is the master of ceremonies of a day full of motivational speakers, insightful discussions, and uplifting energy to continue awareness of the plight of women in Iran.
These events would not be possible without the participation of our incredible speakers, gracious volunteers, and dedicated committee members.
Thank you to everyone who participates in this empowering event who will be a part of this day of inspiration, and we couldn't think of a better way to come together and inspire, empower, and connect our global community.
What are our responsibilities as Iranian women living in the diaspora? How can we help the brave Iranian women risking their lives in the movement for women’s rights and freedom? How do public demonstrations, chanting slogans, and sharing photos, and/or videos from Iran contribute to the larger women’s movement?
The panel consists of women who have dedicated their lives to social change, run for office, or were appointed to influential positions because of their strong stances on social issues.

Women are powerful leaders. In this session, you will hear firsthand accounts from female leaders about their experiences. They will discuss the attributes of effective leaders: courage, strength, empathy, and authenticity to name a few. Find out how each of these women have evolved in their leadership roles and how they advance in their own unique way. Are women different kinds of leaders than men? Dare we ask if they’re even better?

The world’s largest female-led revolution is happening right now in Iran. Throughout history, the intersection of art and activism has played a crucial role in social movements against inequality, oppression and injustice. Whether it be posters, film, murals, photography, music or graffiti, different artistic mediums have helped countless social justice movements gain necessary traction in the public sphere. Women artists in Iran and across the diaspora are leading the way, using the universal power of art to support and sustain the movement for freedom that transcends borders and demands universal human rights for this generation and the next. With fearless courage, these creative catalysts have become the voices and vanguards of change in our society.

The time has come for the free world to get up and walk the walk with the freedom-seeking women, men, and youth of Iran. The time has come for the governments of the free world, men, women, media, and all sectors to give voice to the voiceless. Help by amplifying their voices and support the courageous Iranian women, the Shirzans.
