Sanaz (Sunny), mother of three daughters, is the youngest Equity Partner in the Firm of Aleshire & Wynder, LLP. She is also the first female City Attorney for City of Carson. Sunny’s litigation victories include 8 published opinions, two before the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals, two before the California Supreme Court, dismissal of two lawsuits (saving a city client $110 million), a jury trial involving 21 consolidated cases on the cleanup of a former oil field and most recently a victory preserving rent control for low-income residents in California. Sunny was the Assistant City Attorney in City of Bell when her Firm won the CLAY “Attorneys of the Year” award in Municipal Law in 2015 for helping Bell return to responsible government and solvency after the malfeasance of eight city officials. Within three years her team returned Bell to sound fiscal basis by eliminating $78 million in claims against the City and recovering over $10 million in damages. Sunny was the lead in negotiating and putting together a deal to bring the NFL back to Los Angeles- involving a complex $1.8 billion transaction. After the NFL made its decision, in an email thanking her, representatives of the NFL wrote: “I wanted you to know that I admire your professionalism, effectiveness, effervescence and overall style. You were such a voice of reason and a sound resource whenever the waters churned to typhoon levels…Besides being bright you are very cool and that is a marvelous combination”.
