Salimeh Shakibaei is a consulting associate based in Washington, D.C. She was previously the Associate Director of the Iranian American Women Foundation, where she collaborated with regional leaders and local partners to organize and host events aimed at inspiring and empowering women of the Iranian diaspora. She also worked to help establish Village Rise, a non-profit organized aimed at empowering partners organizations in Iran, Niger, and Jamaica to meet their communities’ needs.
Salimeh is passionate about traveling the world and connecting with different cultures. She previously served in the Peace Corps as a Secondary School English teacher in southern Ethiopia. Her experience living and teaching in a rural mountain village taught her the importance of flexibility and quickly adapting to changing situations.
She studied at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. where she majored in International Affairs with a concentration in Security Policy. She spent a semester studying abroad in Berlin, where she volunteered with and translated for refugees. Salimeh was raised in a multilingual household, with an Iranian father and a Mexican mother.
