Biography | The Honorable Sabrina Kraus, a New York Housing Court Judge, is not only IAWF New York Chapter’s Spotlight member, but also the winner of a recent election for public office. Kraus recently ran a successful campaign and won in the November election for New York Civil Court Judge. She was endorsed by US Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney, Assemblymen Keith Wright, Robert Rodriguez, Dan Quart and The Lenox Hill Democratic Club and The Lexington Democratic Club. She was the only candidate found qualified to run the Independent Democratic Screening Panel – which she won. Kraus has more than 20 years of legal experience spanning multiple practice areas including civil litigation, commercial litigation and real estate and housing cases. As a Housing Court Judge, Judge Kraus presides over trials and resolutions concerning housing and real estate matters in Manhattan, Brooklyn, and the Bronx. Before her appointment as a Housing Court Judge, Judge Kraus was a partner at two prestigious law firms in Manhattan. She also served two consecutive terms (four years) as the elected President of The Association of Housing Court Judges. In addition to being an active member of IAWF, Judge Kraus is a member of the New York State Bar Association, New York County Lawyers Association, the Jewish Lawyer’s Guild, and is a volunteer for the Lincoln Square Synagogue Food Pantry. She is the recipient of numerous prestigious professional awards including outstanding leadership and dedicated service as President of The Association of Housing Court Judges (2015), Outstanding Service to the legal community by the New York State Assembly (2013) Judge Kraus is a graduate of Colgate University, where she majored in International Relations and French Literature. After college, Judge Kraus obtained her law degree from the Benjamin N. Cardozo School of Law. She is married to her husband, Craig, and is the mother of three children.
