Biography | Holly Dagres (هالی دگرس) is a nonresident senior fellow at the Washington-based think tank, the Atlantic Council. She is also the editor of the Council’s IranSource blog and curator for the weekly newsletter, The Iranist. Holly has fifteen years of experience in the Middle East (living in Tehran, Cairo, and Jerusalem). Holly regularly conducts interviews on radio, television, and print including CNN, NBC News, NPR, Sky News, Telegraph, The New York Times, and Washington Post. She is also a contributor to BBC News and the Monocle. Her work on Iran has appeared in numerous publications, including Al Jazeera, BuzzFeed, Foreign Policy, Guardian, Huffington Post, TIME, and the Washington Post. Holly is often called upon to consult for the private sector, including investors and rights groups. She is also invited to speak at K-12 schools and colleges to share her knowledge of the Middle East and growing up in Iran. Holly’s degrees include a master’s in political science from the American University in Cairo and a bachelor’s in political science and French from the University of California, Los Angeles. She is currently a member of the Women’s Foreign Policy Group (WFPG) and the Iranian American Women Foundation (IAWF). Born in Los Angeles to an Iranian immigrant mother and American father, Holly spent her adolescent years in Iran, from 1999 to 2006, during which time she graduated from Tehran International School. She is fluent in Persian (فارسی) and a proud Iranian-American. |
