Amy Malek is a Lecturer in Anthropology at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she received her Ph.D in 2015. Her primary research interests include migration, diaspora, and visual culture, with a focus on Iranian communities in North America and Europe. She graduated summa cum laude from Emory University and holds an M.A. in Near Eastern Studies from NYU, where she was a MacCracken Fellow. For the last 12 years, Amy has been a staff and board member of Iranian Alliances Across Borders (IAAB), a non-profit organization working to strengthen the Iranian diaspora community through leadership and educational programming.
