Jasmin Darznik is the author of the New York Times bestseller The Good Daughter: A Memoir of My Mother’s Hidden Life and the novel Song of a Captive Bird, which will be published next spring by Random House. She was born in Tehran, Iran and grew up in Northern California. The recipient of several writing awards and prizes, Darznik has contributed to the New York Times, Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and the San Francisco Chronicle. She holds an Ph.D. in English from Princeton University and an MFA in fiction from Bennington College. She teaches in the MFA program at the University of San Francisco.
