Dr. Houri Khalilian is a patent attorney with 18 years of legal experience serving corporate clients before the Federal Courts and administrative agencies in all aspects of intellectual property law with expertise in representing U.S. domestic and foreign corporations, start-up companies, and universities in complex biotechnology and pharmaceutical patent prosecution, merger and acquisition-related IP due diligence, and licensing/ transactional work. Dr. Khalilian is admitted to practice before the Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, District of Columbia Court of Appeals in Maryland, the District of Columbia, and US Patent and Trademark Office. Before entering the field of law, Dr. Khalilian held a research scientist position at Yale University Department of Internal medicine. Dr. Khalilian obtained her Ph.D. from the University of Sussex in England in the field of Cell and Molecular Biology. She has more than 22 scientific and legal publications in peer reviewed journals and book chapters internationally. Dr. Khalilian is one of the co-founders of the Iranian American Bar Association which was founded in 2000 in Washington, D.C., and now has more than 1500 members nationally. Dr. Khalilian currently serves as an Advisory Board Member of IABA and also serves as a chapter leader of PAAIA in DC.
