Biography

Farnoush H. Tooma-Morvarid was raised in Northern New Jersey after immigrating to the United States from Iran when she was 5 years old. Ms. Tooma-Morvarid obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology with a minor in Biology from Rutgers University, Rutgers College, in New Brunswick, NJ. She was headed toward a career in medicine until she began working for the law firm of Ventura, Ribeiro & Tang at the former World Trade Center in New York City from August 1994 through August 1995. While at Ventura, Ribeiro & Tang, she worked as a legal assistant concentrating in the area of international trade litigation matters, as well as immigration law. Thereafter, she decided to pursue a legal career and attended New York Law School in New York City, where she received a Juris Doctor in 1998. While attending New York Law School, Farnoush took classes in immigration law and became increasingly interested in the field of immigration law and was chosen to be a legal intern for The New York Law School Civil & Human Rights Clinic where she assisted in obtaining political asylum for a famous Chinese political dissident.

She also served as a Judicial Intern in the field of criminal law for the Honorable Michael A Corriero at the New York State Supreme Court in 1996. Her interest in the fields of international and immigration law sparked her to apply for a coveted international internship program in 1996 through Syracuse University where she interned for the chambers of the renowned Anthony Scrivener, Q.C. in London, England, where she presented a paper on the Comparative Legal Study of the American and British Legal Systems.

Ms. Farnoush Tooma-Morvarid is admitted to the New York State and New Jersey State BARS. In March 2004, Farnoush was honored with being inducted into the United States Supreme Court. She has been active in the American Immigration Lawyers Association and is also a member of the New York State Bar Association. She is also fluent in Farsi and has working knowledge of French.

She has worked as an Associate with Fragomen, Del Rey, Bernsen & Loewy�s New York City office, as well as La Rue and Associates in New York City, where she assisted with immigration matters on behalf of Fortune 500 companies, as well as one of the world�s largest corporations.

In September 2000, Ms. Tooma-Morvarid founded and became managing partner of Pajoohi & Tooma, LLP, a boutique immigration law practice in New York City, where she represented corporate clients in various fields from investment banks to shipping companies and information technology firms, in matters of nonimmigrant visa processing (H-1B, L-1A/L-1B, E-2,E-3, J-1, O and TN visas, as well as business and family based immigrant visa processing (EB-1, EB- 2, and EB-3); PERM applications; adjustment of status to permanent residence; and consular processing for nearly a decade.

Most recently, Farnoush H. Tooma-Morvarid, started her newest partnership, Tooma & Ozisik LLP in July 2010 and extended its personalized, client driven business and family immigration law practice with offices in New York City and Northern New Jersey servicing the immigration- related needs of employers in a full spectrum of industries including finance, hospitality, travel, manufacturing, energy, multi-media and technology. Ms. Tooma either partners with human resource personnel or manages their foreign national personnel program entirely, in obtaining temporary work visas and permanent immigrant visas (green cards) for business, scientific, managerial and executive personnel. Through her substantial experience with all work-related visa classifications (H-1B, L-1A, L-1B, E-1, E-2, E-3, J-1, TN, and O), she is able to provide both short-term and long-term strategic guidance in the employer/employee relationship. Her representation also includes that of outstanding researchers, extraordinary ability foreign nationals and those seeking national interest waivers.
