NY Chapter Mentorship Reunion Event
On February 28, 2018, the New York Chapter held a reunion dinner of its first mentor/mentee cohort group. Hosted by Laya Khadjavi, co-chair of New York's Mentoring Committee, the event was attended by more than half of the mentor/mentee pairs and was an occasion to celebrate the success of New York's inaugural mentoring program.
Many stories were shared about the different mentor/mentee experiences. It was clear that great friendships were being made. In fact, one of the main themes of the evening was that the conversations had gone well beyond work and careers, to topics such as self-confidence, identity and our families. Everyone also recognized that what made their experience extra special was that they had gotten together not only in pairs, but also as a group, in an intimate setting, where they had the opportunity to get to know each other and create a strong network.
IAWF is proud of the success of New York's inaugural mentor/mentee program and is looking forward to the launch of its second cohort later this fall.
