Thanks to the generosity of our donors, commitment of our sponsors, support of our members and dedication of our volunteers and staff, IAWF was able to reach great heights in 2014. Together, we successfully helped families in need, connected women from all walks of life, inspired our youth, gave individuals resources to help them realize their dreams and set a new membership record. I am excited for the continued growth 2015 will bring for the Foundation. Expect to hear more from us about new conference locations, new local chapters and new programming for our youth.
It's our collective strength that has fueled our steady growth in the past and it is what will keep us going in the future. I am excited about the year to come and look forward to seeing you on the path to growth and progress. My very best wishes to you and your family for a healthy and prosperous 2015!
Spotlight Achievement: Maryam Banikarim
The Iranian American Women Foundation would like to congratulate Maryam Banikarim on being named Hyatt Hotels Corporation's global chief marketing officer.
Banikarm will oversee the company's individual brands and the experiences they offer online and offline while working across the organization to facilitate innovation around the guest experience, according to the company.
Banikarm, who held the position of the first-ever chief marketing officer for Gannett Company, will assume her new role effective January 26, 2015.
Congratulations to IAW Foundation member Alexandra Monir on hosting a successful book signing at the Barnes & Nobel Upper East Side on January 8.
Monir's latest book, "Suspicion," is an enthralling supernatural thriller that was published by Delacorte Press/Random House in hardcover on December 9, 2014. About 100 people attended the book signing and her books were sold out by the end of the event.
Monir released her first novel, "Timeless," in 2011 at the age of 25.
Through Your Eyes: Transforming Hearts and Minds through the Arts
The Iranian American Women Foundation would like to thank Trustee Fariba Ameri for moderating the arts session during the Los Angeles Iranian American Women Leadership's Conference.
The panel, which compromised of renowned Iranian American artists Soraya Nazarian, Homa Taraji, Morgan Hakimi and Fatemeh Burnes, explored the power of art and the ways in which it can transform lives.
